There’s a quiet wisdom in nature that speaks directly to the soul if we’re willing to pause and listen.
I came across this reflection recently:
“Even butterflies rest when it’s raining not because they’ve given up flying, but because they know the storm will pass.”
That image simple, graceful, yet full of depth has stayed with me. Butterflies are born to fly, but when the rain comes, they don’t push against it. They rest. Not in defeat, but in discernment. Not out of fear, but out of trust. They instinctively understand that their strength is not in resisting the storm but in waiting it out.
This speaks to more than just moments in nature, it mirrors our lives.
There are seasons when work becomes exhausting. When effort doesn’t seem to match outcome. When the things we’ve built begin to feel unstable or unappreciated. There are days when life feels like a constant uphill battle. Relationships strain. Plans fall through. Doors close unexpectedly. And sometimes, even our faith which we’ve always leaned on starts to feel quiet, distant, or heavy.
In those moments, we question ourselves. We question God. We wonder if we’re still on the right path.
But like the butterfly in the rain, maybe the most powerful thing we can do is not fight but rest. To be still in the downpour and believe that the sun will return.
That’s not weakness. That’s faith.
Resting isn’t quitting. It’s knowing your strength has a rhythm. It’s recognizing that storms are temporary but purpose is permanent. It’s choosing to believe that God’s silence is not His absence and that the pause in your progress may be a divine protection or redirection.
“Come to Me, all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” (Matthew 11:28)
So to my family and to anyone walking through a storm in work, in life, or in your faith I want to say this:
Your wings are not broken. The rain is not the end. You were made for more.
Let this be your reminder: Even butterflies rest in the storm. And when it passes they fly again.
Keep progressing. Keep believing. And when you can’t push forward, pause, but don’t give up.
Dedicated to my family with love, faith, and hope.
