Trust in a disillusioned world.

Trust in a disillusioned world.

Ashley Mwanza

Trust generally refers to a firm belief in someone or something or being confident about someone or something. Trust develops over time, based on solid past experiences that inform present levels of trust. What has happened in the past has left many thinking if we can ever trust again. Yes we can if we take control of the situation.

Trust is not nurtured by beautiful speeches of flowery language; it feeds on consistent action to deliver on promises made. (Dewa Mavhinga, Human Rights Lawyer, Zimbabwe). It is at this stage that we have to make that pledge that we are up for the cause to restore normalcy to our world. It will take each individual’s effort to see to a new world order.

Today we are faced with a myriad of problems, and we continue to move in the direction of individualism because we no longer trust anyone anymore. We feel we have been betrayed and so we now prefer to go it alone. It’s unfortunate really, because to solve the problem ahead of us we have to come together we have to put the past behind us and work as a collegiality and surge forth together. It is only when we will work collectively that we can conquer what lies ahead of us.

The financial institutions have taken all the blame for the turmoil we find ourselves in. The ripple effects are massive no one has been spared. The governments have been left dumb founded although the alarm bells sounded well in time they just weren’t interested at that point or maybe they thought they had it all under control. Well the world we live in today is much faster than we can ever imagine, it will be tomorrow before we knew it. We have to stop ‘thoughting’ and start thinking, ‘thoughting’ is more of a reactive nature we ought to be proactive, and stay on guard.

Before we know it this whole phenomena will be behind, but if and only if we play our part in resolving the muddle we find ourselves in. When time are tough the tough get going, we all have to be thought at this point and time and be resilient in all that we do. All this week CNN will offer hope and guidance to a disillusioned people “ Making it through and coming out strong” is the theme. They say that “economic forecasts may look uncertain, but you don't have to give up in despair.”

We have to take the bull by its horns. But above all else this can be achieved through togetherness, and to accomplish this we have to learn to trust each other .
